Peer Review Process

The journal is published twice a year (May and November). Based on this process, acceptance rates are 20 percent as noted in Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities. No part of an SCR published case or teaching note may be reproduced by any means or used in any form without written permission of the Society for Case Research. The Journal of Case Studies (formerly Annual Advances in Business Cases) publishes both decision-based and descriptive cases. Decision-based cases place students in the role of a decision-maker and ask them to make recommendations to effectively handle or deal with the situation described. Descriptive cases provide a description of a real situation and then challenge students to analyze, assess, and evaluate the situation. The Journal of Case Studies publishes field-researched cases and cases for publication based on substantial research from secondary sources. Fictional or synthesized cases are not considered for review or publication. Cases that have been published elsewhere or are under consideration for another publication are not eligible for publication in JCS.
